Auditions for the 2007-2008 season will be held on September 7th at 6:30 pm Informationals for Chara will be held on September 5th and 6th at 9 pm at Suzanne’s School of Dance. E-mail chara for more information about the time and location.
About the Audition:
The audition typically consists of a ballet portion(adagio, petit allegro, travelling turns) and a jazz portion (a combination with battements, pirouettes, grande jetes, etc.). There will also be a short modern progression and combination. There is no preference given toward any section, i.e. the scores from the ballet section hold the same weight as the scores from the jazz section. The combinations are taught by the President and Vice-President of Chara.
Dancers do NOT need to be prepared with a solo. The entire audition will be taught.
Although dance clothes (leotards, tights, jazz pants, camisoles, etc.) are the typical attire. The judges and Chara officers are aware that many people do not expect to dance in college and do not have their clothes/shoes with them. Therefore, the attire requirements do not exist as long as you are able to move.
Chara draws judges from founding company members, former member, local and regional studio owners, and Texas A&M dance program faculty.
